ABOUT THIEVES RUN

TTRPG stock photo

Why Thieves Run & Why Now?

We're TTRPG enthusiasts with a heart for sharing the love of the game and the warmth of communal spaces with new and old friends.

Independently, Cali & Marty have been dreaming of a safe & inclusive TTRPG-centric space for years, and recently they found each other through Cali's Wednesday night TTRPG community The Awry Guild.

Right about the same time they met, The Awry Guild started running out of space at their current location due to ever increasing attendance. Now, the time feels right to step out and make a TTRPG-first community space.

Cali, Master of Assassins

Cali is a Louisville based game master with a background in community leadership and media. While his day job sees him driving around the Bluegrass State as he guides guests along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, on Wednesday nights you can find him facilitating a TTRPG community.

Born and raised in Kentucky, Cali's full lore drop sounds like an NPC backstory the GM had to make up on the spot because the party started asking too many questions...

From becoming a flight attendant for United, to leading ghost tours in Old Louisville, to becoming a service bartender in a fancy French restaurant, to co-running an ultimate frisbee camp in northern Iraq, to running three TTRPG specialty camps, Cali believes in chasing community and following opportunities as they present themselves. Opportunities like Thieves Run.

Marty, Warden of Vaults

A Kentucky native based in Louisville, Marty brings a background in entrepreneurship and supply chain management—and a lifelong love of tabletop gaming that started with old-school D&D in the ’80s.

By day, his “cover identity” is a supply chain manager, solving logistical puzzles and keeping complex operations running. By night, he trades spreadsheets for story arcs—building worlds, rolling dice, and bringing people together around the table.

For Marty, tabletop role-playing games have always been more than a hobby. They’re a way to build community, spark creativity, and create shared experiences people carry with them long after the game ends. He believes everyone deserves a place where it’s easy to sit down, feel welcome, and belong to a community. That belief is what led to Thieves Run—a space built for players, storytellers, and anyone looking for their next adventure.

Abbie, Keeper of the Bones

Abbie is a Germantown-based game master who traded the Midwest highway for Louisville's streets. A clinical research coordinator by day, she spends her working hours deep in data, protocols, and the meticulous problem-solving that turns out to be excellent training for keeping a party alive.

A transplant from Indianapolis, Abbie was introduced to TTRPGs in 2021 and has been a lost cause ever since. She ran her first games for close friends, graduated to public tables earlier this year, and has developed a particular fondness for the smaller local convention circuit. Outside of gaming and work, she manages a household of three cats and a dice collection (at what point does it become a hoard?) of increasingly unreasonable size.

For Abbie, TTRPGs have always been about the people as much as the game. She believes the best thing a table can offer is the feeling that you belong there — and that when the session ends, you've built something real with the people around you. Thieves Run is exactly the kind of third space she's been looking for: a place where locals can show up, get creative, and make it their own.
